Every other major American city: NY, Chicago, LA, SF, Seattle, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Detroit, even Charlotte NC, all have at least one iconic skyscraper. Miami and Boston are the only two cities I can think of that have none at all. At 822 feet, this thing is boring!
Congrats to Miami for getting a new tallest! Though I must admit I'm looking forwards to your supertall proposals coming to fruition a little more than this one.

I'm not going to descend into things any further than this, but if you don't think that the Prudential Tower (or, for that matter, the John Hancock Tower) is iconic for Boston, than I suggest you come and visit and take a look for yourself. The Pru is very significant to many Bostonians, even if it's not the most attractive building in the world, and it dominates its surroundings.
