I had no idea Alberta was so vigilant in defending it's borders from unwanted rodents, but apparently the rat patrol is very serious business.

Saskatchewan also has an active rat patrol program in place and is working very hard to become rat free as well. I was born (1961) and have lived in Alberta my whole life and have never seen a live wild rat in Alberta.
