Austin City Council on Thursday approved special zoning to allow the transformation of a historic Congress Avenue building into a boutique hotel.
The plan is to build a 26-story, 130-room hotel and restaurant — totaling about 90,000 square feet — essentially on top of a building at 416 Congress Ave. A groundbreaking could happen this summer, and it could be ready in 18 months, sources said.
