Yup. But CA's mediterranean climate stretches all the way up into Nor Cal. In fact, Valparaiso's flavor of mediterranean climate is the same as SF's (mostly warm-summer mediterranean), and they have very similar temperature ranges. More so than Valparaiso and So Cal (which mostly has a hot-summer mediterranean climate), though the amount of rainfall Valparaiso gets is more similar to LA than SF.
