After leaving Salina, it was time to head back east into the Flint Hills, and off the beaten path for a change. The sun had started to drop pretty low in the sky and I wanted to find a place to stay the night. If I was smart enough, I would have stopped in Junction City or Manhattan. But for whatever reason, I thought there would be a cheap motel in Council Grove. However, with a population of only about 2,000, there was only one choice. A bed and breakfast looking place that was easily over $100. (I think).
So I made my way back through the hills in the pitch black back to Manhattan, an easy 40 miles, and plopped my head down on a $37 bed courtasy of Motel 6!!
The next morning, I made my way back through the hills and into Council Grove I came. Camera and all!! Am I rambling again??

This sweet lady "demanded" that I take a picture of this old building with her standing in front of it. She has worked here for 17 years. I'm assuming the building is as old as it says!!

Well, in a town as small as this, I can only take so many picture before you finally get the point!! So it was on to the next destination somewhere in the Flint Hills... See you there!!
