Council Grove, KS - The Flint Hills Series Part 5

Manhatten, KS - The Flint Hills Series Part 1
Junction City, KS - The Flint Hills Series Part 2
Abilene, KS - The Flint Hills Series Part 3
Salina, Ks - The Flint Hills Series Part 4

After leaving Salina, it was time to head back east into the Flint Hills, and off the beaten path for a change. The sun had started to drop pretty low in the sky and I wanted to find a place to stay the night. If I was smart enough, I would have stopped in Junction City or Manhattan. But for whatever reason, I thought there would be a cheap motel in Council Grove. However, with a population of only about 2,000, there was only one choice. A bed and breakfast looking place that was easily over $100. (I think). So I made my way back through the hills in the pitch black back to Manhattan, an easy 40 miles, and plopped my head down on a $37 bed courtasy of Motel 6!! The next morning, I made my way back through the hills and into Council Grove I came. Camera and all!! Am I rambling again??

An old abandoned farm.

The Kaw Mission late 1800s just outside downtown

Along the main drag........

Maybe an old theater perhaps??

This sweet lady "demanded" that I take a picture of this old building with her standing in front of it. She has worked here for 17 years. I'm assuming the building is as old as it says!!

The old hotel I decided not to stay at!!

Finally!! A place I can go to without having to check out one of those stupid residen....... You gotta laugh!! What else can you do??

I believe this house was built in the 1860s

A small general store.........

A failed attempt at getting a nice view shot of the town!!

An old hermit's cave from the 1800s

Well, in a town as small as this, I can only take so many picture before you finally get the point!! So it was on to the next destination somewhere in the Flint Hills... See you there!!
