As it's been stated in the Transportation subforum, the other projects currently under construction (Indiana Gateway and Englewood Flyover) will also significantly reduce travel times between Detroit and Chicago. Those projects are designed to reduce congestion and make sure that Amtrak doesn't have to wait for freight trains. When all three projects are complete the stated goal for the trip is under 4:30.
