Reopened Terminal 6 at LAX designed to mimic a drive down Sunset Boulevard
The terminal, which reopened Wednesday following a $70.5 million renovation, is the latest in an airportwide modernization project. It was designed to mimic a drive along Sunset Boulevard, beginning in downtown Los Angeles and ending at the beach, according Los Angeles International Airport officials.
The new look begins after the Transportation Security Administration checkpoint, with concrete and metallic finishes meant to resemble downtown, giving way to an open space modeled after Sunset Plaza. Renovated hallways then transform into the Sunset Strip section of the terminal, and then to the Garden Terrace zone, where many of the terminal’s new restaurants and shops will be housed.
Travelers will end their trip down Sunset Boulevard at gates modeled after the California coast.
