Build It Bigger: CityCenter
Caught the Build It Bigger: CityCenter special on the Science Channel last night.
They highlighted a lot of the complexity of Veer Towers which was incredible. The elevator core is the only part of the building that is plum and acts as the spine of the building. If the core was built even 1 degree off it would compromise the entire building.
All the pillars lean at a 4.63 degree angle in two directions that move away from the core.
Aria is two opposite interlocking "Cs" that share the elevator core right at the center, creating four not-so-lengthy hallways of rooms. The hotel couldn't surpass a 600ft height restriction and Aria's design was the result of a competition among architects.
