Temple lures shops, apartments, with incentives

A retail and apartment project under construction north of Austin in Temple was spurred by $250,000 in incentives.
The Temple Economic Development Corp. announced that the Shoppes on the Hill broke ground recently, with Temple EDC President David Blackburn lauding it as a "quality retail and restaurant development for everyone in the community."
Phase 1 of the 12.4 acre site will include 13,500 square feet of retail with two pad sites. Phase 2 will include a 195-unit apartment complex. Panera Bread, Noodles & Company and Aspen Dental have signed on and should be open later this summer. The project is valued at $20 million at final build-out.
