Oregon Health & Science University extended its hold at South Waterfront with the acquisition of two pieces of land now used as a dahlia garden and off-lease dog park.

OHSU paid $13.6 million for blocks 23 and 27, directly east of the OHSU Center for Health & Healing and south of the Ross Island Bridge.

The 4.5-acre site will likely be developed in the future with patient care facilities. There are no immediate plans to proceed. An OHSU spokesman said the dogs and dahlias are welcome to stay for the foreseeable future.

OHSU funded the purchase from its own general fund. No state dollars were involved.

North Macadam Investors was the seller.
