Winnipeg Clinic Opposing Historic Designation

Article in The Sun today in in which "Owners of the Winnipeg Clinic are fighting a proposed historic designation, which they fear will saddle them with extra work and extra costs."

Where do you draw the line as what gets designated as historic? The owners are blaming the nomination to that list for causing a "four-month delay and $20,000 budget increase to a recent one-floor renovation of the building." I sympathize for the owners on this and don't see why this should be designated as historic. Built in 1942, ugly and no real historic value. Not a huge loss if this was ever demolished.
