Our neighbourhood here in Calgary switched to LED in the last year and it was instantly noticeable. Right away it took me back to my childhood and the mercury vapour lamps.
I like the color of the new LED's - like speedog said, bit of a warmer white.

I've noticed the provincial highways within Calgary (Deerfoot & Stoney) have not converted to LED yet. In some cases you can tell where the Provincial jurisdiction ends and the City's begins on the off ramps by the color of light from the street lamps.
