No clue. Maybe aisle spacing and seat size regulations have changed? I believe the Playhouse has some pretty extensive structural issues as well, so they may need to beef up some load bearing areas and/or add new structure load points that could eat up seating.

I've only been to the Playhouse a few times myself so I don't know any details about what needs to change to modernize it and bring it up to code.
