Province helping company in Miramichi to expand

MIRAMICHI (CNB) – The provincial government is making an investment in Hostopia to help it expand its workforce at its customer interaction centre in Miramichi.

Economic Development Minister Paul Robichaud and Peter Kostandenou, chief operating officer, Hostopia, made the announcement.

"We are proud to support Hostopia as it continues to seek opportunities to increase employment in New Brunswick," Robichaud said. “Hostopia and its parent company, Deluxe Corp., offer a wide range of web-based marketing services to clients across North America, South America and Europe. These services are geared to helping businesses grow through new customer acquisition.”

The provincial government is investing a total of $891,000 through a $700,000 forgivable loan to create up to 75 jobs and $191,000 through the Regional Development Corporation for equipment purchase and leasehold improvements. Hostopia will employ close to 300 in Miramichi once it completes the workforce expansion during the next 18 to 24 months.

"It is private sector businesses such as Hostopia that create opportunities for New Brunswickers to work and generate wealth throughout the province," Robichaud said. "As a government, our role is to ensure New Brunswick provides a welcoming environment for foreign investment where businesses can establish, thrive and prosper."

Hostopia provides web services enabling businesses to establish and maintain an Internet presence that can be found by potential customers. The company provides these services in partnership with communication services providers, including telecommunication carriers, cable companies, Internet service providers, domain registrars and web-hosting service providers.

“Hostopia and Deluxe Corp. are dedicated to providing services that help small- and medium-sized businesses grow and thrive in their communities,” said Kostandenou. “It is exciting for us to be directly experiencing the growth that enables us to add jobs and positively impact the New Brunswick economy."
