Manhattan is getting another condo building by a Pritzker Prize-winning architect, but this one, by Álvaro Siza will be extra special: it's Siza's first building ever in the United States. The Portuguese architect's involvement in the project was revealed in March, and now the development team from Sumaida + Khurana and LENY shared more details about the building.
Located at 611 West 56th Street on the corner of Eleventh Avenue, it will hold around 80 condos and rise 35 stories and 420 feet, measuring 162,000 square feet. No pricing or renderings have been released, but units will range from one- to four-bedrooms and include "spacious penthouses."
The building amenities will be pretty standard: a rooftop garden, a sundeck, a spa and fitness center, a children's playroom, a swimming pool, and an entertainment space for private events. Several apartments will have private terraces, and Michael Gabellini and Kimberly Sheppard will work with Siza to design the interiors.
