It's an ongoing process at the moment. West Oakland will essentially become an affluent suburban neighborhood of SF if developers get their way. Gentrification has already begun in the area and it will just pick up more steam as housing prices in the city itself continue to skyrocket. I feel for the long time, lower income residents that have lived in West Oakland for generations, but I'm glad that through this gentrification, the awesome Victorian housing stock will be refurbished and remain in tact.
