The present Corner Brook city hall was built by the paper company. The third floor was added later, hence it looks a bit awkward.

Deer Lake council receives hotel report
The Western Star
Quote:
DEER LAKE — The commissioner’s report regarding a controversial proposed hotel development in Deer Lake is now in the hands of town council.
The recommendations of the report by town-appointed commissioner Gerard Martin, however, will not be made public until town council holds its next public meeting, which is slated for Monday evening.
In the meantime, The Western Star has learned that the recommendation will be for the town to approve rezoning a parcel of residential property to make way for the new hotel development.
Mayor Barbara Ball confirmed Monday that council has the report, but would not comment on what the commissioner has recommended, stating that disclosure will have to wait until Monday’s meeting.
Pacrim Hospitality Services of Halifax hopes to build an 85-100-room hotel adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway in Deer Lake.
During a public consultation on the issue in late April, Martin noted he had received a number of submissions, both for and against the rezoning plan.
Residents in the Bennett Avenue area, where the hotel would be built, were up in arms over the plans within days of its announcement. Their main complaint was the increase in traffic the development is expected to generate in their quiet, residential neighbourhood.
