Probably Chrysler, as it was the first 1,000 footer and has had its place in the New York skyline since 1930. 53W53 is a formidable building in its own right, but when it's done, there will be so many buildings in Midtown that are taller than it, meaning it won't have that "icon" status that Chrysler & ESB had for so long.
