Infrastructure design is mainly determined by its logistics. "Form follows function" is basically a German architecture mantra !

The BER is a midfield airport featuring two parallel runways with the terminal at the center. The whole concept involves a large train station under the terminal and makes the airport state of the art.

There will be only few airports on the globe combining as many intermodal access capacities in order to provide a comfortable travel experience.

I´d expect Chicago and Washington to be the new US connections to Berlin in the following 2 years....
