Saskatoon art gallery construction on track
City says project on time and on budget
Reported by Brent Bosker, NewsTalk 650 CKOM
On the surface it might not seem like much is getting done, but below ground work is moving ahead on the Remai Art Gallery at River Landing.
Monday, the city's executive council received a progress report from Jeanna South, special project manager on where the $74.2 million project stands.
The report said excavation work for the future parkade was nearly completed and almost half of the concrete footings have been poured.
"(Crews) have also started water proofing their walls in preparation for pouring the concrete of the walls. So that is well underway," South said.
They're starting to move up from within the hole, but South added it will be a while yet before the gallery itself begins to take shape.
"It will be well into 2014 before we start bringing steel to the site and start seeing steel go up," she said.
