Sackville Exit 506
LAND USE & FUNCTIONAL PLAN

A plan to completely re-envision the eastern entry into the town of Sackville:

https://sackville.com/wp-content/upl...eb-21-2018.pdf

HIGHLIGHTS:
1. Alex Colville Memorial Park to celebrate the location of several of his paintings
2. Preserving woodlots and trees, but adding walking trails that connect to the dyke system
3. Pedestrian friendly design that incorporates sidewalks and crosswalks
4. Bike lanes to connect the downtown core to the Bridge Street Terminus
5. Potential for an increase in the diversity of residential use
6. Support increase in business (possible commercial plaza)
7. Support tourism related business, as well as possibility to cater to RV, and camping

In short:

- The Bridge Street/Cattail Ridge intersection is envisaged to become a roundabout.
- The land on the NE corner of the intersection is envisaged to be developed for a commercial plaza (parking in the back), mixed use residential and a small institutional component.
- Trails will be included in behind, as well as a park overlooking the river and the train bridge - the Alex Colville Memorial Park. The park will celebrate his life's work and his connection to the lands surrounding Sackville. I really like this concept!!
- All streets will have wide paved shoulders for bike lanes. This will be continued down Bridge Street to the downtown area.
- Lots of trees and foliage.

Alex Colville Memorial Park, showing it's relationship to the nearby rail bridge, and also showing the overlook over the river on the abutment of the old highway bridge.
