From where I grew up in Jackson, California (45 minutes southeast of Sactown) it was interesting to watch the towers when they were in operation. During the winter when the Sacramento Valley became socked-in with fog, those towers would peep above the fog layer, chugging out twin columns of steam. Very reminiscent of a newly emerging volcano from an ice-choked sea. One of the perks of living above the fog-line! Rancho Seco was also a favorite spot for senior ditch day... not that I ever participated...
