I traveled to Ottawa last year for the tournament and was shocked how low key the event was. Cape Breton seemed to have more fans at the game than Carleton despite Carleton being ranked #1, being the host team, and having 30,000 students. CBU has 4,000 students and about 2000 km away. They came by the bus load down from Nova Scotia. There were a ton of Acadia fans there too. Any one who questioned Nova Scotian interest in basketball saw it in full force last year. Basketball matters in the Maritimes, Ottawa not so much.

This tournament needs to go back to Halifax where people care about basketball. Ottawa has had their chance, and I can't say that I've been impressed.
