I almost cried seeing these renderings! -- even if full build-out will take years. I would gladly never see another high rise in SOWA if it meant seeing this transformation happen downtown. Aside from PAW and Fox Tower, Portland's CBD skyline is dominated by 1970s/80s architecture despite booming growth. We've seen decent infill -- but to have modern skinny towers interspersed among the historic fabric of Ankeny would be amazing. Big Pink will finally have some company, and Portland's DT skyline will hopefully fill that gaping hole and enter the 21st century! Not to mention the fact that this is precisely where infill SHOULD happen -- on those relics of post WWII America, the downtown surface parking lot, rather than in place of the Temple Buildings and Jimmy Maks of the world.
