denver would have been far better do hire someone that wasn't such an offensive jackass. mcdaniels wasn't given nearly the credit for new england's success as belicheat is (and for good reason...hell, i've coached as many games as mcdaniels has). see, the thing is that we easily had a .500 team going on here. we've been .500 for how long now? that seemed to be shanahan's for-tay...be all-september with wins then suck down the road to where you finish around mediocre and exit first round of the playoffs (if you even make it). you don't FIRE a coach without the perception of getting better. this denver team was underachieving, especially given the talent it had on offense (if you deny that, you've probably been too busy watching new england instead of watch denver play). the thing here NOW is that mcdaniels needs to do better than Shannahan, and not 5 seasons down the road either...anything short of 9-7 this season will be a total failure given what we had going on before we hired mcdaniels...and i absolutely guarantee you we ain't going 9-7 this season. 7-9 seems to be optimistic to put it lightly.
if mcdaniels somehow goes 10-6 this season, i'll eat crow. but he's made enough questionable decisions in a matter of only 8 weeks that absolutely nobody of any credibility thinks denver will have a shot this season. they're spot on about it as well. you don't just remove one of the top arms in the league from your team and expect everything will be fine and dandy (especially since we're not a defensive team in the first place). this is NOT a defense statement to cutler. as i said, after the events that transpired, i'm glad he's gone...but WHAT THE HELL POSSIBLY goes through your mind to try trading for matt cassel?? seriously...the mere fact that he entertained that notion shows me how badly mcdaniels is going to fail as a head coach in the NFL

Not quantitative yards but a qualitative analysis of the broncos offense. You have been arguing how great the broncos offense was based on their total yards but this does not give a full picture of their offense. Its how you score those yards that counts as well.
Not sure how you so easily discredit MCD's credentials. He was quarterbacks coach when the patriots won two super bowls and an offensive coordinator from 2006-2008 where the Pats saw their longest winning streak of 21 games.
