As I was looking on the internet I noticed the city has plans to renovate the old Sears Distribution Center in Greensboro north of midtown on Lawndale Dr. At one time it was the largest air conditioned building in the state. A big chuck of it was demolished and it was once over 2 million sq feet. The city has come up with concept drawings to turn it into a mixed use building complete with a sculptures pedestrian sky bridge from the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway which will eventually link to midtown and to the downtown Greenway. The uses for the building have not been determined. I think it would be great if it were a third Gateway University Research Park campus, one that includes retail, residential, restaurants, research/innovation labs and some sort of a joint university school.

I have always wondered what that massive building was. Glad to see it going to good use now.
