New solar panel plant in Pingtung is largest in Taiwan

Taiwan is undergoing an ambitious energy transition with the Tsai administration aiming for a nuclear-free island by 2025. Solar power is a key component of the government's target to produce 20% of Taiwan's power with renewables, and today Premier Lai was in Pingtung for the opening of a new solar panel plant, now the largest in the country.

The grand opening of Taiwan’s largest solar panel plant is a shot in the arm for the country’s energy transition plan.

We want to employ renewable energy sources to replace the 15% of the grid currently supplied by nuclear. Put another way, by 2025 the government along with industry and all sectors of society will work together to achieve the goal of 20% of our power coming from renewables, and solar will be the most significant part of this 20%.

Solar and hydro power are major elements in the government’s effort to achieve a nuclear-free Taiwan by 2025.

NT$8.1 billion of this year’s investment in Forward-looking Infrastructure will be in the building, construction and development of renewable energy sources. In the next four years an additional NT$20.5 billion will be invested to facilitate development of this industry. With everyone together we can make this energy transition a success and the industry will keep on growing.

Situated in Pingtung’s Daching Industrial Park, the panels made at the new plant of over 46,000 square meters are expected to produce two billion watts of power.

太陽能模組廠屏東啟用 賴揆推太陽光電發展

蔡政府提出2025年非核家園政策，台灣也進入能源轉型期，今天上午行政院長賴清德特別南下屏東，參加全國最大太陽能模組廠的啟用典禮，強調太陽能是台灣發展再生能源不可或缺的重要一環，更鼓勵全台灣人民一起用行動，支持太陽能光電發展。

全台最大的太陽能光電模組廠盛大啟用，為進入能源轉型期的台灣，打下一劑強心針。

“我們要運用再生能源去取代目前核能發電的百分之15的佔比。換句話說2025年，行政院會結合業者、社會各界共同完成百分之20的能源佔比目標，這百分之20的佔比目標，最重要的還是太陽能”

為了如期在2025年前達到非核家園的目標，太陽能和水力發電等再生能源，都是政府推動的重點。

“前瞻基礎建設裡面今年編列了81億元推動再生能源的興建、建置、研發或是興建，另外未來4年我們會投入205億新台幣去促成這個產業的發展，大家一起來，能源轉型會成功，產業也可以持續發展”

位在屏東大慶工業區，超過1.4萬坪的太陽能模組廠，估計全面啟動後，最終產能可望高達20億瓦。
