I only take issue with the bolded. I'd rather state: Was, is, and could become. Sure, Denver lost a helluva lot, and the parties that be should have kept what they had. But, in the present day, it's great to see an appreciation for a bygone heritage, and a desire to regain some of it. We have to balance the frustration over losing what we had with the optimism of what we will obtain.

Of course, this is no attack on anyone, as I feel many (all) of us feel the same way.
