I'm sure there's a thread with that debate raging yet again somewhere. These architects don't add spires just so the heights get bumped above other buildings, its a rare case when that happens, considering the number of towers that now have spires. Not everyone is obsessed with "height" rankings.

I forget the exact number, but the NY tower is somewhere between 2.1 and 2.5 msf.
