Admittedly, I am not an architect and here in DC, all developers seem to build are the same 6-10 floor retro-brick buildings but this building here looks respectable enough-- it certainly isn't a turd.

This looks like it has ground-floor retail. It will allow more people to live downtown, adding vibrancy, and it will allow more people to live near transit. This is also creating construction jobs when they are still needed and this will expand LA's tax base.
