Shockingly so but not unprecedented. Canary Wharf and London City are the classic examples of the nation's tallest building and what is world's busiest STOLport are literally seconds apart while landing there... Just go to Youtube for some wicked landing videos...
It's probably because it is so close to the airport they can build so high. It's out of the direct runway path but close enough to it that would ensure as tower could either be as tall as as humanly possible or limited due to the glideslope of the runway....
Either way, I am excited to see the tower's completion and also to see where MBS takes the nation next, especially when it comes to NEOM... Aka the Saudi Arabian Dubai in planning...
