Las Vegas - Highlights 3

Las Vegas highlights photographed in April 2017:
I posted previous threads of highlights of the city; 'Las Vegas - Highlights' was posted in 2009 and 'Las Vegas - Highlights 2' was posted in 2011, as well as focus threads 'Las Vegas - CityCenter Las Vegas' and 'Las Vegas - The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas'. This new thread from a recent visit features projects I had not seen previously or new ones built since I last visited in 2010.

Smith Center for the Performing Arts:
This is located on the edge of downtown in the Symphony Park area, a former large train yard that is slowly developing. The center's design is an Art Deco homage in contrast to the bold modern forms of nearby projects.

Discovery Children's Museum:
Adjacent to the Smith Center is this museum that relocated from the city's central library.

City Parking Services Garage and Pedestrian Bridge:
The bridge crosses over railroad tracks to connect downtown with Symphony Park.

Las Vegas City Hall:
This is on the edge of downtown, as is the building that formerly housed it.

The Linq Hotel and Casino, and Promenade with High Roller:
This Strip hotel is a drastic redesign of the former Imperial Palace, and an outdoor promenade shopping and dining promenade has been added on one side with the world's largest ferris wheel at its terminus.

The Park, Park Theater, and T-Mobile Arena:
Another Strip addition is this linear park between New York New York and Monte Carlo hotels and casinos, ascting as a promenade from the Strip to the new arena. Along the way is a new theater attached to Monte Carlo.

Aureole at Mandalay Bay:
Here are several images of a restaurant with a 'wine tower' that has been redesigned since my last visit to this hotel and casino.

Silverton Hotel and Casino Interiors:
Various themed bars and restaurants are inside this hotel and casino a few miles South of the Strip, including a large aquarium tank.

Bass Pro Shops:
Attached to the Silverton Hotel and Casino is this large outdoor equipment chain store.

Nevada State Museum:
A newer addition to the Springs Preserve - the water district's collection of attractions on land West of downtown - is this cultural and natural history museum.

Clark County Wetlands Park Nature Center:
On the Eastern edge of the metro area is a large park in a natural wash that has many manmade retention ponds and this nature center.

Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center:
Several miles West of the metro area is this Bureau of Land Management park with dramatic rock formations and a visitor center with great interpretive exhibits.

Enjoy!
