@Sight-Seer lighting and photography certainly make a painting look quite different. Unfortunately until I buy a place with lots of Northern light; I am stuck with sub-par lighting options.

I agree however darker seems to pop the buildings and will keep that in mind when doing the sky. Hopefully this week if the temperature here in Dallas dips so I can open the windows open (large oil painted areas put off quite the fumes, and would like to avoid turning mad, at least for now

It might not be clearly evident but I'm quite happy to have making some good progress over the wknd:
