Site work has started on an apartment complex near Raley Field that will feature, among other amenities, a place to wash your dog and repair your bike.

The Wolff Company LLC of Scottsdale, Ariz., is building Tower Bridge Commons in two phases, with the first part under construction in a parking lot formerly used by the Sacramento River Cats baseball team. Soil compaction has started, and the building will start taking shape in three or four months, Development Director Dan Nethercott said.

The first phase will consist of 270 units. If both phases are constructed, the complex will consist of 378 apartments in 12 three-story buildings arrayed over about seven acres. Tower Bridge Commons is just the first glimpse of what is to come along the West Sacramento waterfront, city of West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon said.
