2 involved in apparent stabbings mum, RNC investigate

Police in St. John's continue to investigate two apparent stabbings that occurred in St. John's on Saturday.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary responded to a call for assistance around 4 p.m. Saturday, regarding a man in the Goodview Street area who was bleeding.

Shortly after receiving the first call, the RNC responded to another call about a man who was bleeding.

When officers arrived to the second scene on Cabot Street, the man was holding a knife.

RNC said there was indication that a third person was involved.

However, police said neither of the men wanted to provide any further detail about the incidents.

One man suffered a minor injury and was taken to hospital for treatment, but the other man was treated on the scene by paramedics and refused to go to hospital.

RNC continue to investigate, and it is unknown if there are any arrests pending.

Impaired drivers keep police busy

Meanwhile, a 26-year-old woman was charged with impaired driving following a collision on Pitts Memorial Drive Saturday night.

The accident happened just before 10:30 p.m.

Police said the driver was charged with impaired causing bodily harm and refusal.

The accused was released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

RNC responded to a hit-and-run collision earlier Saturday afternoon in the Stavanger Drive area.

Police said the collision happened around 4:30 p.m.

Shortly after receiving the call, officers located the suspect vehicle near St. Thomas's Line.

A 40-year-old man was charged with impaired driving, and was detained at the lockup for a court appearance Sunday morning.

Police impounded the man's vehicle.
