Haven't been to the Interior this year, however in most years (and this seems like a better one), the snow is very good until the end of March - you should have no worries about finding snow!
You could always meet up in Cranbrook (3 1/2 hours from Spokane - about the same drive to Nelson) and ski Kimberly, Pano or Fernie - though Pano is a longer day (but easily doable). I have skied all those places in early/mid March and had great snow.
