Funny how that's now the trend again. Nice pic of Polo Park, still dominated by good old Winnipeg retail names, Strain's and Perth's and Genser's, along with Simpsons-Sears.
Winnipeg used to be so underdeveloped in terms of major indoor malls, with only Polo Park and Garden City for a long time, and then the relatively small Unicity. That was probably testament to the relatively strong downtown shopping tradition. But when St. Vital and Kildonan Place opened more or less simultaneously in 1979-80 downtown was quickly headed for life-support.
