Decatur tops Site Selection's national rankings for small metro areas

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Decatur ranked first nationally in Site Selection magazine's annual ranking of economic development in small metro areas. Decatur had 13 new or expanded corporate facilities in 2011, placing it ahead of Springfield, Ohio (12) and Williamsport, Pa., (10).
Cullman ranked third among cities with a population between 10,000 and 50,000, with 20 new or expanded facilities, and Daphne-Fairhope ranked eighth.
