There is a lot happening. What the City is trying to do is save an amusement district while simultaneously revitalizing Coney Island as well, with new, market rate housing (as opposed to how the City previously developed housing there). Also, the goal is to turn the amusement district into a year long attraction - using the planned
indoor amusements as a way to "winterize" the area. The reason it is difficult to pinpoint a "date" for completion is because it is not a single project. There are various people and developments involved. The only visible aspect of the long term goal (meaning permanent feature) is the ongoing construction of Steeplechase Plaza by the City itself, seen on the previous page.
