Contract to analyze undeveloped Truro property awarded

TRURO - Canada's largest commercial real estate services company will complete an analysis of the best use for undeveloped property atop Young Street.

The town awarded the contract to Colliers International during Monday's council meeting. The company's $18,000 proposal was the lowest of the four bids that responded to the town's request for proposals.

During the past year the town has received a couple of requests to develop the town-owned land near the former landfill site for both commercial and residential uses. Staff decided to get a real estate opinion on the best use for the property.

The study area is about 440 acres and is currently a mix of residential and industrially zoned property.

The report is due in mid-to-late September.
