Premier Brad Wall remains realistic about the prospects for a new stadium in Regina.

Word from Ottawa is that the federal government will adjust the rules for its P3 fund to say yes to Saskatchewan's proposal. But until he sees a cheque he maintains nothing is certain.

Wall won't count his chickens just yet saying "nothing has really changed, just more speculation."

But he admits it is interesting to hear what is coming out of Ottawa, particularly as he feels the application the province made through the P3 fund is a good one.

It argues the proposal is more than just a football stadium, but multipurpose and will do much to revitalize a neighbourhood.

And Wall says they will just keep pushing those points.

"We will just keeping doing what we have been doing which is advancing our position within this federal initiative," said Wall.

But he maintains without federal and private money involvement, there is little future for the proposed project.

Curious statement by Wall. Didn't they state before that this thing would go ahead regardless of federal funding? Also, isn't the private money already in place?
