RCMP are currently 900 officers short nationwide. They can't hire and retain them.

Regardless, WPS pay rates have been set by binding arbitration for years. People here are blaming council for agreeing to pay them what they're asking and their hands are tied. Good luck changing that. Any reduction in what it costs for policing in Winnipeg need to be found through cost savings in areas other than wages so stop beating a dead horse. Ways of reducing overtime would be be one. Other ideas?
