I played the new SimCity for a bit. It's very challenging, even the smallest problems can spiral out of control if not dealt with. For example, if your garbage collection is insufficient (or backed up due to traffic), it piles up in people's yards, driving down land values. People move out, and vagrants move in. The vagrants then set the garbage on fire, overwhelming the fire department, forcing you to expand the fire department until you can't afford to run your city anymore. I had to abandon a city entirely once because of this.
