This is a fairly simple building for a Gehry design. By applying graduated variations in the perimeter of each floor plate, the effect of undulation emerges. Structural columns remain plumb, which is a vast simplification for Gehry. A
similar concept was applied to exterior balconies of a tall building on Chicago's Lakefront. But Gehry of course chose to clad the waves with stainless steel and he has admittedly achieved a much more elegant execution.
