With the VIENNA DC, WED AG has seized the opportunity of creating a 'city within a city' on the bank of Danube opposite of one Europe's most beautiful Old Towns. This urban centre aspiring to high functional and architectural standards and providing advanced residential and office buildings, research institutions, recreational facilities as well as event locations can be reached from the historic city centre by underground in only eight minutes.

The Donau-City site is located directly at the Reichsbrücke access ramp as well as next to the Danube Bank Motorway. Vienna International Airport is only about 20 minutes away. The Donau-City covers about 18.5 hectares on which approximately 1.93 million m³ of building space will be constructed, corresponding to a gross floor space of ca. 550,000 m². Its final expansion stage will be reached in four to six years. At present, almost two thirds have been completed and commercialised. The investment volume for this large-scale project is approximately 2 billion Euros.

By dividing vehicle and pedestrian traffic into two separate levels, both optimum accessibility and unimpaired leisurely walks are guaranteed. All access roads as well as garage storey driveways have been routed underneath the pedestrian level.

What is so extraordinary about the Donau-City is its location directly at the Danube Island, Europe's largest urban recreational area. Due to its special location close to a large body of water and the adjoining nearby recreational areas of the Danube Island, the Danube Park and the Old Danube, it has been called "one of today's most interesting European development areas" by international experts.
