Perhaps this should be a thread of its on, but does anyone have any suggestions on a location in downtown for a large public parkade? How far down underground can they drill (and is it even feasible given the solid granite I assume is underground in most downtown).
As noted by the previous poster, there are two new parkades already under construction and will include some public parking and should make a great deal of difference.
351 will have a 446-car parkade, including 246 public parking spaces, and the Henry Bell parkade is supposed to have at least 384 stalls.

The project will provide approximately 169 parking spaces for the condominiums as well as approximately 215 for public use.
Quote from the Henry Bell Land use Assesment report.

So, unless this has changed, that's a total of 461 new public parking spaces in these two parkades.
