First look: Inside a new $700 million Med Center tower

The development of a $697 million, 1 million-square-foot tower in the medical center is chugging along nicely, said Sidney Sanders, senior vice president of construction facilities, design and real estate at Houston Methodist.

The hospital system broke ground on the new North Tower at 6551 Bertner St. in May, and the mammoth development should wrap up in November 2017, Sanders said. Houston Methodist recently was approved for buildings permits for the tower – 19 permits, in fact, totaling $151.2 million.
