Last weekend was gorgeous, and I thought I would try and view the city from a new vantage point. Most of these photos are taken from 'above' - i.e. from the top of parking decks scattered throughout downtown.

Peregrine Towers

The Spanish-revival State Theatre on The Mall. It has a beautiful atmospheric interior that makes it feel like you are outside under a night sky. The brutalist AT&T building sits obstinately behind it:

Bronson Methodist Hospital - North Pavilion, where my niece was just born:

The empty lot behind the former Kalamazoo Gazette Building, awaiting redevelopment by its new owner, Bronson Methodist:

Rooftop equipment on top of one of the buildings fronting The Mall:

The reconstructed Farmers Alley:

Pedestrian Bridge connecting the Kalamazoo Mall Parking Ramp with the Epic Center Parking Ramp:

American Bank & Trust Building (now 5/3 Bank):

The diminutive Kalamazoo Savings Bank, adjacent to the Haymarket Building:

Exchange Place Alley:

Radisson Plaza Hotel:

Church Spires:

Spotted a wedding bridal party coming out of the Radisson:

KVCC's downtown campus, with Anna Whitten Hall in the foreground:

The Lawrence & Chapin Ironworks Building, now office space:

Detail of the mansard roof:

Arcadia Commons West, a 5-block area awaiting redevelopment:

The Arcadia District:

Park Trades Center:

Looking west towards Prospect Hill - two landmarks are visible in the distance - the old water tower of the State Hospital, and the former East Hall of WMU:

Arcadia Creek - temporarily drained, with ducklings taking advantage of it:

"The Little Park" adjacent to Rickman House where Sarkozy's bakery burned down:

The intermodal transportation hub, formerly the city's Michigan Central Railroad Station:
