Thanks, guys!

GALWAY - DAY 1 Cont.

So, Joanne's childhood friend and her Irish husband were our tour guides as neither is from Galway but they've been living there for like 20 years. The husband thought I was from Waterford so he's now my absolute favourite.

This was all I could remember of Galway, the spit thing.

We got some traditional Irish cuisine - pizza.

A lot of the bathrooms in Ireland have something like this. Feels like the whole country is hosting some kind of gaming convention.

Aisling (Ash-Leeng) is a woman's first name in Newfoundland, seems to be a surname in Ireland I guess.

2 p.m. at an Irish bar. I was made for this country.

They took us for a run out to the countryside to see a castle in an ALDI parking lot.

There were quite a few scarecrows out this way with the Queen's head on them. Tsk tsk.

We went to an old tower in the woods for ice cream. Sounded like a horror movie set-up. And, to be honest, still felt like one even when we were eating our delicious whipped ice cream lol

Hurling in the wild! We have it in Newfoundland too but it's not popular.

After everyone else was going to bed, I went downtown to check out the bars. Such a great night out - it's not quite as busy as George Street in any one place, but it's spread out over a bigger area. There's crowds on streets even without any businesses open. And the people were best kind - spent maybe 20 minutes alone before a table adopted me. And, damn... such a fun night. I didn't even go home. There was even a Portuguese sailor involved.
