More info on the Portman South End project at Hawkins St.

Gensler is the architect at 2151 Hawkins. Kimley-Horn is the civil engineer.

The tower, approved in a rezoning to be a maximum height of 250 feet, will bring about 275,000 square feet of office space and 20,000 square feet of retail, most of which will be concentrated in a food hall on the ground floor, said Travis Garland, director of leasing at Portman Holdings. The developer expects to break ground on the project — at 2151 Hawkins St., next to Sycamore Brewing — in the fourth quarter of this year, with an estimated construction timeline of 20 to 24 months, Garland said.

Garland said current plans call for a building slightly less than 250 feet — around 220 or 225 feet, with nine floors of office that will sit on top of seven floors of parking. The building has a stepped-up design, intended to help transition the building's mass compared to smaller-scale development around the site, Garland said.
